Oberhofer – Away Frm U
Perhaps the happiest music you’ve every heard, Oberhofer’s debut album Time Capsules II is the epitome of uptempo indie rock. Fast, driving rhythms, melodic leads and the use of vocals as an instrument force a tap of your toes and a smile on your face. Discovered during his college career studying music composition at NYU, Brad Oberhofer (yeah, he used his name for the band name) has toured with The Morning Benders, Sleigh Bells, and most recently Matt and Kim. Cotton Jones – Up A Tree (Went This Heart I Have)
Fans of Page France have been wondering for years what happened to the band after suddenly quitting with very little warning. Well your search is over. Cotton Jones (formerly known as The Cotton Jones Basket Ride) have been making music since 2008 and have advanced from releasing EPs off of Ann Arbor-based Quite Scientific Records to currently being signed to Suicide Squeeze. Blending psychedelic folk with indie rock (and some clear baroque influences for you classical fans out there), Cotton Jones is the epitome of hippie music. Like The Mamas and The Papas after a Saturday morning wake and bake, they make some of the most relaxed and peaceful music out there. Systems Officer – In This World
Side project of Zach Smith (amazing bassist of Pinback), Systems Officer was never meant to go anywhere. With some time after the 2007 Pinback Autumn of the Seraphs, Smith was able to record Systems Officer’s only album, the aptly-titled Underslept. His signature Pinback sound shines through the entire album, but the music as a whole is much more down-tempo and moody. Original piano lines and creative drum fills give the album a very full sound while still maintaining a very minimalist, separated feeling.
