Wednesdays 8 P.M. – Midnight
The Accidental Blues showcases blues like you’ve never heard before. Wednesday nights from 8 until midnight, listen in for artist interviews, call in with your favorite blues requests because we’re taking them all night, and be sure to listen to the last half hour as we spotlight works from new blues artists and albums. With artists both new and old, blues host Bubba Ray brings you the best out of a genre that has been the inspiration for most contemporary music today.
The studio has a very impressive collection of blues artists and their discographies. Several sub-genres can also be heard including, Delta Blues, Swamp Pop, Zydeco, and R&B. Artists range from the hollerin’ and croaky voiced Howlin’ Wolf, to the electric Chicago blues style of Junior Wells, to the new blues hits of today’s the White Stripes or The Black Keys. The style has evolved from its early days to a much louder, fuzzier, and distorted soulful piece of ‘ol fashioned blues.
Blues are making a comeback and staying alive and with the several new artist albums being sent to the station, there is never a lack of fresh talent to display. There is no other show around that devotes four hours of new and old Blues to one of the most powerfully inspirational genres around.
